\u2022 During his visit to the region, the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, listened to citizens and he held meetings with the Colombian and Brazilian authorities to define joint actions against criminal structures, human trafficking and deforestation organizations.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u2022 He announced the construction project for a headquarters in Guaviare.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

With the aim of strengthening the institutional presence in the territories and defining differential investigative actions according to the criminal phenomena that affect each region, the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, visited some strategic points of the Colombian Amazon region. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the company of the Deputy Attorney General, Martha Janeth Mancera; the Delegate Director on Public Security, Luisa Fernanda Obando; the Executive Director, Astrid Torcoroma Rojas; and the Special Director against Corruption, Eduard Alirio Calder\u00f3n; the Attorney General spoke with citizens to learn first-hand about judicial requirements. He also held meetings with staff of the Sectional Offices in Amazonas and Guaviare to guarantee better working conditions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Puerto Nari\u00f1o (Amazonas), a focused intervention plan was agreed to investigate domestic violence and theft,\u00a0\u00a0two illegal behaviors that most affect this population.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Subsequently, the Prosecutor Barbosa Delgado and his staff held a meeting with the Colombian consul in Tabatinga, Juan Carlos Carrillo; and representatives of the Brazilian authorities. Some joint efforts were agreed to combat drug trafficking and human trafficking, on the understanding that sexual exploitation activities of girls, adolescents and women have been promoted in the border area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The joint judicial and operational actions will be accompanied by a campaign to avoid the commission of this crime and raise awareness about the urgent need to protect minors and women. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fight against deforestation\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0As part of the agenda, the Attorney General and his delegation participated in the Council of Ministers convened by the President, Iv\u00e1n Duque M\u00e1rquez, in Leticia. In this scenario, the results obtained in the Investigation Strategy against Deforestation in the Colombian Amazon\u00a0<\/span>\u2018Estrategia de Investigaci\u00f3n contra la Deforestaci\u00f3n en la Amazon\u00eda Colombiana<\/span>\u2019, led by the Office of the Attorney General, and the operation \u2018Artemisa\u2019, in which there is a joint work with the public force, were reviewed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In five major operations carried out in 2020 in areas of\u00a0<\/span>Parques Nacionales Naturales<\/span><\/i>, more than 40 people were identified as people devastating forest reserve areas and were arrested and prosecuted. Different focal points of deforestation were controlled.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By 2021, the Office of the Attorney General and the National Government will strengthen this investigative and operational synergy to dismantle the criminal networks that promote the destruction of the Amazon region to have illicit crops, to process drugs, to carry out illegal agricultural activities and other illegal activities.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Part of this inter-institutional commitment was reaffirmed in Tarapac\u00e1 (Amazonas) with Army and police authorities of the region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Office of the Attorney General will have a modern and spacious headquarters at the service of citizens in Guaviare\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, and his staff finalized details to launch the project to build the entity’s sole headquarters in Guaviare.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWe are in the land where we are going to build the headquarters of the Attorney General’s Office. We did not have our own headquarters; we were in a rented place. The entire bidding process has already started. The investment\u00a0\u00a0is COP 9,700 million with 3,340 square meters of construction”, stated the Attorney General during his visit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The works will begin in August this year. It will be a two-level structure that will concentrate the services of the sectional and special prosecutors, the CTI, the Center for Integral Attention to Victims of Sexual Violence (<\/span>Centro de Atenci\u00f3n Integral a V\u00edctimas de Agresi\u00f3n Sexual (Caivas) in Spanish), Center for Assistance of victims of Domestic Violence (Centro de Atenci\u00f3n a V\u00edctimas de Violencia Intrafamiliar (Cavif) in Spanish)\u00a0and other areas. Additionally, it will have more spacious and modern spaces to guarantee the well-being of 70 employees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“It is good news for this area of \u200b\u200bthe country that has been included within the strategy of the eastern territories in order to be able to combat crime,” concluded Prosecutor Barbosa Delgado.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
