{"id":39466,"date":"2020-11-07T09:54:11","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T14:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=39466"},"modified":"2020-11-09T12:16:58","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T17:16:58","slug":"the-office-of-the-attorney-general-achieved-three-convictions-related-to-cases-in-which-human-rights-defenders-former-farc-members-in-process-of-reincorporation-and-family-members-were-affected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2020\/11\/07\/the-office-of-the-attorney-general-achieved-three-convictions-related-to-cases-in-which-human-rights-defenders-former-farc-members-in-process-of-reincorporation-and-family-members-were-affected\/","title":{"rendered":"The Office of the Attorney General achieved three convictions related to cases in which human rights defenders, former Farc members in process of reincorporation and family members were affected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Among those convicted, there is a member of the organized armed group Los Pelusos and the head of hitmen of the criminal organization Clan del Golfo in the western area of \u200b\u200bAntioquia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">As a result of the investigation and prosecution strategy developed in accordance with the guidelines established by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, on cases in which former Farc members in process of reincorporation and family members are affected, the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigaci\u00f3n UEI) obtained guilty verdicts against those responsible for three crimes perpetrated in isolated events, as follows:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Crime of the social leader in Tib\u00fa (Norte de Santander)\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0Thanks to the conclusive evidence collected by the Office of the Attorney General, the 4th Court of the Special Circuit Court of C\u00facuta (Norte de Santander) sentenced Yalcid Dur\u00e1n Claro, a member of the so-called Libardo Mora Toro front of the organized armed group GAO Los Pelusos, to 19 years in prison for aggravated criminal conspiracy, aggravated homicide, attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The decision arose from the investigation into the events that took place on November 8, 2019 in the rural area of Miramontes in the municipality of Tib\u00fa (Norte de Santander) in which the UN human rights defender, Luis Alcides Tarazona Salamanca, who served as secretary of the Cooperation of tradicional miners, coordinator of the Ascamcat Committee and supervisor of the Community Action Board (JAC) of the aforementioned rural settlement was murdered.
