{"id":39442,"date":"2020-10-29T15:08:33","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T20:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=39442"},"modified":"2020-11-03T11:37:40","modified_gmt":"2020-11-03T16:37:40","slug":"more-than-nine-tons-of-cocaine-of-drug-trafficking-structures-were-seized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2020\/10\/29\/more-than-nine-tons-of-cocaine-of-drug-trafficking-structures-were-seized\/","title":{"rendered":"More than nine tons of cocaine of drug trafficking structures were seized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The operations, which allowed the arrest of 21 people, were carried out in seven Departments of the country and Bogot\u00e1, including Panama and the Dominican Republic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, presented the first results against organizations involved in drug trafficking activities, within the framework of the relationship of the Office of the Attorney General with the United States Agencies, including DEA, CIA and the FBI, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the U.S. Marshals Service.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The Delegate Office against Organized Crime, through operations carried out by the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">(<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Direcci\u00f3n Especializada contra el Narcotr\u00e1fico (<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">DECN)),<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0between October 23 and 28 of this year, arrrested 21 alleged members of organizations involved in drug trafficking, destroyed two clandestine tracks and seized more than nine tons of cocaine hydrochloride. These operatives included countries such as Panama and the Dominican Republic, seven Departments of the country and Bogot\u00e1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The Attorney General stressed that this administration has an &#8220;indeclinable commitment in the fight against national and transnational crime&#8221;, which has allowed these important results.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Operational activities against drug trafficking\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure of 2,600 kilos of cocaine<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">: The Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking in a joint effort with DIJIN &#8211; National Police and the Navy, intercepted a boat transporting 2,600 kilos of cocaine in coastal waters of Necocl\u00ed (Antioquia). As a result, four Colombian citizens were arrested. According to investigations, the boat departed from Acand\u00ed (Choc\u00f3), headed for Costa Rica.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure of 142 kilos of cocaine in Panama<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. The Office of the Attorney General, the National Police, the Navy and Panamanian authorities intercepted in Panama&#8217;s international waters a Go-Fast boat that was transporting approximately 142 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride. Two people were arrested in the proceedings: a national of\u00a0\u00a0Colombia and one of\u00a0\u00a0Honduras. The vessel, apparently, belonged to a transnational organized criminal group that commits crimes in Urab\u00e1 and is involved in drug trafficking by sea from Colombia to Central America.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure in Santa Marta<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. On October 24, the Office of the Attorney General and the Police seized in the Port of Santa Marta (Magdalena) 17.34 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that were going to be concealed in a container headed for Antwerp (Belgium).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure of 600 kilos of cocaine in Panama<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. Through an investigation carried out by the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking and Panamanian authorities seized in the port of Panama 600 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride that were found inside a container transported by a motor ship that allegedly departed\u00a0\u00a0from the port of \u200b\u200bUrab\u00e1 on October 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0headed for Civitavecchia (Italy).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">760 kilos of cocaine found in Caldas<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. The Office of the Attorney General and Police, in a search warrant proceeding carried out in a parking lot located in Chinchin\u00e1 (Caldas), found a double-bottom cache with approximately 760 kilos of cocaine. The drug, apparently, belonged to a criminal structure in Putumayo and was being transported by land to Urab\u00e1 where it would later be shipped to Central American countries, in association with the so-called Clan del Golfo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure of 2,148 kilos of cocaine in Antioquia<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. As a result of a joint work between the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking, the National Police and the Colombian Navy, a boat that transported approximately 2,148 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride was intercepted in the area of \u200b\u200bPunta Arena, jurisdiction of the municipality of Necocl\u00ed (Antioquia). Four Colombian nationals and one Honduran were arrested.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Destruction of two clandestine tracks.<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0The Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking, the Judicial Police of that directorate in Atl\u00e1ntico, in conjunction with the Air Force and the Army, destructed two illegal tracks at the service of organized armed groups after a search warrant proceeding carried out on properties located in the rural area of \u200b\u200bthe municipality Uribia (La Guajira). These tracks had been apparently used for the takeoff and landing of aircrafts involved in international drug trafficking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure of 2,045 kilos of cocaine in Tumaco<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. The Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking, the Criminal Investigative Corps (Cuerpo T\u00e9cnico de Investigaci\u00f3n-CTI) and the Navy detected a semi-submersible type boat that was transporting approximately 2,045 kilograms of cocaine in the coastal waters of Tumaco (Nari\u00f1o). Three people were arrested: an Ecuadorian citizen, a Mexican and a Colombian national.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure of 678 kilos of cocaine in Cartagena.<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0Thanks to an operation coordinated by the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking, the National Police and the Navy, and a search warrant proceeding carried out in a residential area of \u200b\u200bCartagena (Bol\u00edvar), 678.81 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were seized. They were apparently going to be shipped in containers to various countries in Europe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">64 kilos of cocaine found in Huila<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. In a joint effort between the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking and the National Police, a truck that was transporting approximately 64 kilograms of marijuana hidden in boxes of fruit (granadilla) was intercepted in the village named El Dinde, municipality of La Plata (Huila), on the road to Inz\u00e1 (Cauca). In the proceeding, the driver and his companion were arrested.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">Seizure of 280 kilos of cocaine in the Dominican Republic<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">. In compliance with the comprehensive strategy against drug trafficking, the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking in coordination with SIJIN &#8211; National Police, DEA, the United States Coast Guard and the National Directorate of Drug Control in Puerto Rico, located, prosecuted and seized a Go-Fast boat transporting 280 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride in international maritime waters, in the area of\u200b\u200bIsla Saona &#8211;\u00a0<i>Parque Nacional del Este\u00a0<\/i>(Dominican Republic).
