{"id":39153,"date":"2020-09-14T14:22:33","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T19:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=39153"},"modified":"2020-09-15T14:47:34","modified_gmt":"2020-09-15T19:47:34","slug":"the-alleged-eln-leader-who-would-be-involved-in-the-attack-against-the-police-academy-escuela-de-cadetes-general-santander-was-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2020\/09\/14\/the-alleged-eln-leader-who-would-be-involved-in-the-attack-against-the-police-academy-escuela-de-cadetes-general-santander-was-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"The alleged ELN leader who would be involved in the attack against the Police Academy Escuela de Cadetes General Santander was arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Three other alleged members of the Efra\u00edn Pab\u00f3n Pab\u00f3n front of that guerrilla were also arrested.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">As a result of a joint operation carried out by the Office of the Attorney General, the Police Department of Santander and the Fifth Brigade of the National Army, it was possible to arrest Pablo Antonio Villamizar, alias Oli, an alleged leader of the ELN front Efra\u00edn Pab\u00f3n Pab\u00f3n who was allegedly involved in the attack committed against the\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Police Academy\u00a0<i>Escuela de Cadetes General Santander\u00a0<\/i>that took place\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">on January 17, 2019.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Alias \u200b\u200bOli was arrested last September 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0in \u200b\u200bC\u00facuta (Norte de Santander). At the\u00a0end of the hearings* a prison sentence was issued by a supervisory judge for rebellion offenses.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Through the investigative work carried out under the guidelines of the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, to clarify criminal acts and dismantle criminal organizations, it was learned that Villamizar allegedly provided important information for the commission of the attack, since he participated in a training course for officers in that place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Likewise, it was possible to establish that Villamizar, as the alleged leader of the aforementioned armed group,had influence over<a id=\"LPlnk683856\"><\/a>\u00a0the municipalities\u00a0of Cilos, Chitaga, Labateca and Toledo (Norte de Santander), as well as in Cerrito, Concepci\u00f3n and San Andr\u00e9s, among others in the Department of Santander.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In the operation, three other alleged members of that front were also arrested. The Office of the Attorney General will be taken to court in order to be prosecuted for extortion offenses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">These people were allegedly in charge of logistics, the supplying and the intelligence duties in this ELN&#8217;s terrorism support network.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">*<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Several \u00a0kinds \u00a0of \u00a0hearings \u00a0held \u00a0in \u00a0one \u00a0hearing \u00a0(known as audiencias concentradas in Spanish)<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three other alleged members of the Efra\u00edn Pab\u00f3n Pab\u00f3n front of that guerrilla were also arrested.
