{"id":39026,"date":"2020-07-30T07:05:44","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T12:05:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=39026"},"modified":"2020-08-03T09:34:13","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T14:34:13","slug":"judicial-event-against-criminal-organizations-responsible-for-killings-and-attacks-against-human-rights-defenders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2020\/07\/30\/judicial-event-against-criminal-organizations-responsible-for-killings-and-attacks-against-human-rights-defenders\/","title":{"rendered":"Judicial event against criminal organizations responsible for killings and attacks against human rights defenders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In 48 hours, the Office of the Attorney General charged and brought to justice the alleged members of organizations linked to crimes that took place in Valle del Cauca, Antioquia, and Caquet\u00e1.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">As part of the strategy established by the Office of the Attorney General of\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">providing \u00a0access \u00a0to \u00a0justice \u00a0in \u00a0territories<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and prioritizing cases that affect communities in the regions, the Special Investigation Unit launched a judicial event (a day) to clarify several crimes against human rights defenders, and prosecute those people responsible.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The proceedings were carried out in municipalities of the Departments of Valle del Cauca, Antioquia and Caquet\u00e1 for two days and thanks to the evidence obtained by prosecutors, CTI and National Police, several members of the criminal structures such as the so-called \u2018Clan del Golfo\u2019 and residual groups were charged.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><u><span lang=\"en-US\">An investigation for a double murder is carried out in Valle del Cauca<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Duv\u00e1n Mauricio Dom\u00ednguez, a member of a drug trafficking network in Palmira (Valle del Cauca) known as \u2018Los 300\u2019, engaged in the retail distribution of drugs, will be brought before a supervisory judge. This person would be involved in the murder of the human rights defenders: Jhonatan Borja P\u00e9rez, a former candidate to the Mayor\u00b4s Office of Candelaria; and Iv\u00e1n Giraldo F\u00faquene, former candidate to the Council of that municipality.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The offense took place on January 31, in a neighborhood named Betania de Comfandi in Palmira (Valle del Cauca).
