{"id":38982,"date":"2020-07-23T09:22:25","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T14:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=38982"},"modified":"2020-07-27T17:28:22","modified_gmt":"2020-07-27T22:28:22","slug":"the-former-mayor-of-san-gil-and-former-manager-of-acuasan-charged-with-damage-of-natural-resources-and-environmental-contamination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2020\/07\/23\/the-former-mayor-of-san-gil-and-former-manager-of-acuasan-charged-with-damage-of-natural-resources-and-environmental-contamination\/","title":{"rendered":"The former mayor of San Gil and former manager of Acuasan charged with damage of natural resources and environmental contamination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Before a supervisory judge, the Office of the Attorney General brought charges against the f<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ormer mayor of San Gil (Santander), Ariel Fernando Rojas Rodr\u00edguez; and the former manager of the water and sewerage company in San Gil (E<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">mpresa de Acueducto, Alcantarillado y Aseo de San Gil (Acuasan) in Spanish<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">), H\u00e9ctor Alberto Ardila Sandoval, for his alleged responsibility in the crimes\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">of damage to natural resources and environmental contamination.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Likewise, at the request of the accusing body, the judge issued a protection measure for the community of San Gil, and ordered the Mayor&#8217;s Office and Acuasan to carry out the actions to change,\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">mitigate and stop pollutant discharges in sector named Los Aljibes. The serious situation originated a landslide on July 26, 2018 in area Paseo del Mango which injured<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">dozens of people and caused economic losses for the inhabitants.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">According to the experts of the Special Office against Human Rights Violations of the Office of the Attorney General,\u00a0<i>Acuasan<\/i>\u00a0carries out pollutant discharges of mud and contaminated water in the area where the sewage of neighborhood La Quinta, which does not have a sewage system, also arrives.
