{"id":38839,"date":"2020-06-12T08:21:06","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T13:21:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=38839"},"modified":"2020-06-16T10:28:29","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T15:28:29","slug":"former-paramilitary-commander-alias-juancho-prada-and-29-other-postulados-of-the-auc-front-hector-julio-peinado-were-sentenced-for-465-criminal-actions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2020\/06\/12\/former-paramilitary-commander-alias-juancho-prada-and-29-other-postulados-of-the-auc-front-hector-julio-peinado-were-sentenced-for-465-criminal-actions\/","title":{"rendered":"Former paramilitary commander alias Juancho Prada and 29 other \u2018postulados\u2019* of the AUC front, H\u00e9ctor Julio Peinado, were sentenced for 465 criminal actions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-US\">This June 9, the Justice and Peace Chamber of the Superior Tribunal of Bogot\u00e1 sentenced Juan Francisco Prada M\u00e1rquez, alias Juancho Prada, former commander of H\u00e9ctor Julio Peinado Becerra front of the Self-Defense\u00a0\u00a0Forces\u00a0\u00a0of\u00a0\u00a0Colombia\u00a0\u00a0(Autodefensas\u00a0\u00a0Unidas\u00a0\u00a0de\u00a0\u00a0Colombia\u00a0\u00a0AUC) for multiple offenses that caused 3,385 victims (1,688 direct victims and 1,697 indirect victims).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The conviction which also involves 29 other \u2018postulados\u2019*, is based on an investigation carried out by a prosecutor&#8217;s office attached to the Transitional Justice Office which collected evidentiary documents of 465 criminal actions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Thus, the Judiciary sentenced them for murder offenses, enforced disappearance, forced displacement, illegal recruitment of minors, gender-based violence, among others offenses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">According to the evidence collected, the\u00a0<i>H\u00e9ctor Julio Peinado Becerra<\/i>\u00a0front committed crimes from 1992 to March 2006 in the municipalities of southern Cesar, such as San Alberto, San Mart\u00edn, Aguachica, Gamarra and R\u00edo de Oro; also in Oca\u00f1a, Abrego and La Playa de Bel\u00e9n (Norte de Santander).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Some of the facts that were attributed to this paramilitary structure and that led to the conviction, are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00b7 Murder of Rosalba Contreras de Castro<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">, who served as secretary of the Municipal Court in\u00a0<i>El Carmen<\/i>, perpetrated on August 25, 2000 in the rural settlement known as Cangrejo, in R\u00edo de Oro (Cesar).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00b7 Murder of Mar\u00eda Elena G\u00f3mez Naranjo,<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0which took place on June 10, 1996 in San Alberto (Cesar). The victim was the director of the hospital in that municipality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00b7 Massive displacement &#8211; Bella Cruz farm,<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\"> which took place between February 15 and 16, 1996. The properties are located in municipalities named La Gloria, Pelaya, and Pailitas in southern Cesar.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00b7 Massive displacement &#8211; Villa Oliva farm<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0on August 16, 1994, in rural settlement El Diviso, in the municipality of San Mart\u00edn (Cesar).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00b7 Massacre in Puerto Pati\u00f1o 1<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0which was carried out on June 29 and 30, 1994, in a small town named Puerto Pati\u00f1o in the municipality of Aguachica and in a small town named El Marqu\u00e9s located in R\u00edo de Oro, both in the Department of Cesar.
