{"id":38809,"date":"2020-05-29T09:43:39","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T14:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=38809"},"modified":"2020-06-02T15:25:29","modified_gmt":"2020-06-02T20:25:29","slug":"a-legal-process-will-begin-against-an-alleged-ringleader-of-the-criminal-organization-la-agonia-which-is-responsible-for-the-murder-of-a-female-leader-in-medellin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2020\/05\/29\/a-legal-process-will-begin-against-an-alleged-ringleader-of-the-criminal-organization-la-agonia-which-is-responsible-for-the-murder-of-a-female-leader-in-medellin\/","title":{"rendered":"A legal process will begin against an alleged ringleader of the criminal organization \u2018La Agon\u00eda\u2019 which is responsible for the murder of a female leader in Medell\u00edn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The Special Unit of\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Investigation (<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Unidad Especial de Investigaci\u00f3n\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">UEI) of the Office of the Attorney General managed to begin a legal process against\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Ronald Ronaldo Echavarr\u00eda Arango, alias El Zarco, considered the maximum leader of the organized criminal group &#8216;La Agon\u00eda&#8217;, for his alleged participation in the murder of the leader Liliana Patricia Cata\u00f1o Montoya, which took place in the so-called Comuna 13 in Medell\u00edn (Antioquia).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The Office of the Attorney General charged him with aggravated murder, aggravated criminal conspiracy, manufacturing, trafficking and possession of firearms. The defendant did not plead guilty to the charges and he must serve a prison term<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">According to the investigation, Liliana Patricia Cata\u00f1o Montoya promoted the assignment of lands to relocate people who lost their homes in a fire that took place in a sector named\u00a0\u00a0Altos de la Virgen. The organization \u2018La Agon\u00eda\u2019 was allegedly\u00a0\u00a0against the process because it was making progress without the consent of the ringleaders and it was going to be developed in an area that was of their interest. In this sense, the murder of the female community leader was ordered on October 18, 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">With the arrest of alias Zarco, the Special Unit of Investigations was able to fully clarify this crime. The intellectual and material authors were arrested and prosecuted.
