{"id":34776,"date":"2015-03-13T16:24:52","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T21:24:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=34776"},"modified":"2015-12-28T10:53:27","modified_gmt":"2015-12-28T15:53:27","slug":"a-colombo-ecuadorian-drug-trafficking-network-was-dismantled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2015\/03\/13\/a-colombo-ecuadorian-drug-trafficking-network-was-dismantled\/","title":{"rendered":"A Colombo-Ecuadorian drug trafficking network was dismantled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the framework of the international cooperation that emerged in 2013 thanks to the Presidential Statement \u201c<em>Ecuador- Colombia: Vecindad Para la Prosperidad y el Buen Vivir\u201d<\/em>, signed by presidents Juan Manuel Santos (Colombia) and Rafael Correa (Ecuador), a joint\u00a0 investigation conducted by Prosecutor\u00b4s Offices and Antidrug authorities from both countries led to the arrest of 36 people and seizure of three and a half tons of cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>This joint work was conducted in compliance with one of the commitments stipulated in the agreement and\u00a0 was related to the fight against drugs in both countries.<\/p>\n<p>The Colombo-Ecuadorian drug trafficking network was engaged in trafficking drugs that were manufactured in the municipalities of Samaniego, Llorente, T\u00faquerres and Ipiales in the Department of Nari\u00f1o. The drug was transported across\u00a0 Ecuadorian border zones and Ecuadorian sea ports for the final shipment to the Unites States and Central America.<\/p>\n<p>The organization\u00b4s modus operandi consisted in using trucks with sophisticated caches where cocaine was concealed. Members of public force from both countries supported this criminal structure, however they were taken to prison.<\/p>\n<p>In March 11th, this organization was completely dismantled since 11 members were arrested.
