Luz Helena Restrepo Duarte and his partner V\u00edctor Hugo Cardona Zapata were sentenced to 38 years in prison for the murder of her two-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n
The 5th Criminal Judge of Bogot\u00e1 circuit imposed this condemnation for the offence of aggravated homicide. In its decision, the official considered that the accused are both a danger to the community as if they acted that way with her young daughter, what could be expected in relation to any other citizen.<\/p>\n
Referring to the facts, the Prosecutor in charge of\u00a0 the case said that on January 30, 2009, the couple took the 2 year old\u00a0 minor Fanny Daniela Restrepo Duarte to Kennedy Hospital, in the South area of\u00a0 Bogota, but without vital signs.<\/p>\n
After a checkup, doctors observed the minor had bruises on her body caused by child abuse, as well as injuries on his right cheek and an injury in the upper lip. The autopsy determined the young girl died because of a rupture of her abdominal organs.<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, V\u00edctor Hugo Cardona Zapata, who was the stepfather of the minor and his biological mother, Luz Helena Restrepo Duarte, were the authors of the blows that caused the death of the child.
