As responsible of aggravated homicide, aggravated criminal association, aggravated kidnapping for ransom and forced disappearance, the defendant, Luis Alexander Beltr\u00e1n Rivera, one of the ringleader of the block “H\u00e9roes Gualiv\u00e1 ” of the AUC self-defenses, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison and a fine of 15,000 statutory minimum salaries monthly.<\/p>\n
The decision was taken by Second Special Circuit Criminal Court, attached to Cundinamarca\u2019s Easing of Cases Congestion, which was based on the evidential material submitted by a Prosecutor assigned to the National Unit of Human Rights and IHL. Beltr\u00e1n Rivera, alias Arturo, was sentenced as an accomplice by way of willful misconduct.<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, between April and May 2003, block “Gualiv\u00e1 Heroes” \/ AUC self-defenses combatants, kidnapped the following people in \u201cLa Vereda de Sasaima\u201d country house in Cundinamarca Department : Luis Alberto Casasbuenas, Luz Dary Perilla Gonzalez, William Jos\u00e9 Bernal Pava, Ruth Cecilia Arias, \u00c9dgar Quintero Gonz\u00e1lez and two minors, who subsequently were transferred to the ICBF Colombian Family Welfare Institute.<\/p>\n
To date, it has only been found Quintero Gonz\u00e1lez\u00b4s mortal remains and the whereabouts of the other victims are unknown by the authorities.<\/p>\n
Juan Jos\u00e9 Meneses Pe\u00f1a and Durance Murillo Boh\u00f3rquez were sentenced to 30 years in prison while Ever Vera Moya was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the same facts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
