The Office of the Attorney General presents data related to cases of killings of human rights defenders reported by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Colombia.

In light of the Strategy for the investigation and prosecution of crimes against human rights defenders and the construction that has been made of the latter concept, the Office of the Attorney General through Directive 002, investigates all the offenses committed against individuals identified or reported as human rights defenders. For this report, the data provided by The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Colombia was taken into consideration. Some of the victims included in the report match with those reported by other sources such as the Ombudsman’s Office, Marcha Patriótica, and la Cumbre Agraria, among others.

This report includes cases organized into the jurisdictions under which they are being investigated and prosecuted: the Ordinary Justice, Military Justice, Indigenous Justice System, and the progress made by the Office of the Attorney General in solving the cases in the Ordinary Jurisdiction.

The report also includes the characterization of killings, such as the regions that have the highest number of victims, the most affected types of leadership, and murder rates per year.
